How do I find my family born in the mid 1850's - 1970's from Virginia?

I have researched as much as possible on ancestry, footnotes, family search and other sites but im stumped. I can't get any further they're my great grand parents and great great grand parents from Green Spring, Louisa, Virginia, United States and were African Americans....help! Thanks in advance.
