Good fast bicycle for amateur.?

Go to the local bike shop and get fitted for a bike. Bikes belong the road not the sidewalk they are considered the same as a vehicle. You wont find a good road bike for $500 unless it's used and you know what size you need and the quality of the bike. They are no good on gravel.
