Any easy to look after pets?

I really want a pet, but I am kinda limited: my parents hate dogs and one of them is allergic to cats. I don't want a hamster because when I has one it was always asleep in the day, so I could only play with it in the evenings, but I was always really busy in the evenings, and it was really loud in the night. Any ideas on an easy to look after pet, maybe a bird, or any animal?
